What are nut butters?
Nut butters are essentially whole nuts that have been ground up into a smooth, creamy consistency. Some are commercially sold in their natural state with no additives, while some have flavourings and preservatives mixed in.
At Amazin’ Graze, we are, as always, committed to your health. Our nut butters are made from 100% natural nuts, lightly roasted and stone-ground. All Amazin’ Nut Butters have no added salt, refined sugar, or preservatives.
What is stone grinding?
Stone-grinding is an ancient method of using perfectly smooth granite wheels to grind food at a low temperature. This is a superior method to commercial processing (using blades that generate heat)  as it preserves the nutrients and flavours of the nuts while maintaining a silky-smooth texture.
Is nut butter better than regular nuts?
Because nut butters are essentially nuts that are ground up, they are nutritionally similar to regular nuts. However, given their creamy texture, nut butters are far more versatile and offer more creative uses than regular nuts – they can be easily spread, mixed smoothly into liquids (e.g. yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies), used as a dip, and much more! They are also suitable for people who are unable to chew hard nuts, but still want all the health benefits that nuts have to offer!
What’s the difference between my Amazin’ Nut Butter and commercial peanut butter?
Fun fact: Peanuts aren’t actually nuts at all! They belong to a class of food called “legumes”, like beans and peas.
Thus, the nutrition profile of nut butters is quite different from peanut butter. Nut butters typically contain:
  • Significantly lower amounts of unhealthy saturated fat
  • Higher amounts of heart healthy unsaturated fat and Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Higher amounts of dietary fibre
  • Higher amounts of Vitamin E and selenium (antioxidants that fight oxidative damage in the body)
  • Higher amounts of minerals like iron, copper and magnesium
Studies have shown that eating 1.5 oz (42 g) of nuts (not peanuts!) daily as part of a healthy diet can reduce the risk of heart disease. The unique combination of nutrients in nuts also promotes satiety (the feeling of fullness after eating), which is useful for weight loss.
In addition, Amazin’ Nut Butters are completely free of refined sugar, salt, and hydrogenated oils (trans fat!) – all of which are usually found in abundance in commercial peanut butter.
How do I eat my Amazin’ Nut Butter?
Any way you like! Amazin’ Nut Butters are delicious:
Spread on toast or crackers
Swirled into oatmeal, cereal, or yogurt
Stirred into smoothies
Spooned on to ice cream or fresh fruit
Substituted for butter in baked goods
But don’t let these suggestions limit you – it’s time to get creative!
Why does the oil separate on top of my Amazin’ Nut Butter?
Our Amazin’ Nut Butters are 100% natural, which means they don’t contain any artificial stabilizers or preservatives. Thus, the nuts’ natural oils may separate and float to the top of the jar.
But don’t worry, and definitely don’t throw the oil away! These oils are healthy fats that are good for you, so just stir the oil into the butter before using and enjoy nature’s goodness! Giving the nut butter a good stir before refrigerating will also help to minimize separation in the future.
How do I store my Amazin’ Nut Butter?
Given the hot tropical climate we live in, we would recommend storing your unopened Amazin’ Nut Butter in a cool, dark area, or in the refrigerator. This protects the nutrients in the nut butter, as well as keeps it tasting good.
Once opened, you should store your Amazin’ Nut Butter in the refrigerator. If you find it becomes too solid to use when cold, simply let it sit at room temperature until it softens before using.
What is the shelf life of my Amazin’ Nut Butter?
We would recommend you consume your Amazin’ Nut Butter by the date printed on the jar.
While refrigerated nut butters should theoretically last longer than the stated date (if stored and handled correctly), you should periodically check your nut butters for rancidity, which can be identified by an unpleasant smell. If your nut butter has turned rancid, it is best to discard it.
Is my Amazin’ Nut Butter gluten-free?
Yes, all Amazin’ Nut Butters are gluten-free!
Is my Amazin’ Nut Butter peanut-free?
All Amazin’ Nut Butters are peanut-free. However, the nut butters are processed in a facility that also processes peanuts. So if you are allergic, it is best to avoid these products!
Is my Amazin’ Nut Butter Halal?
Amazin’ Graze is a meat-free and alcohol-free facility. We are currently working on obtaining our Halal certification – so stay tuned!
